Tearing without compositor (Nvidia)

Without compositor, seeing tearing is a usual thing for me, but it's the first time that I see such bad tearing in fullscreen mpv.

I've just tested i3 and bspwm, and neither has this problem.

Workarounds

1. In picom, I have unredir-if-possible = true, which disables vsync in fullscreen, so setting it to false fixes the issue.
2. Enabling Nvidia ForceCompositionPipeline also fixes the problem.

Questions

Is there another way to prevent it?
And, is that the problem of mpv or herbstluftwm?

OS: Arch Linux
Nvidia: 495.46
Herbstluftwm: both 0.9.3 and latest master 7ea8c09

Found this issue #1347, and removing decorations has indeed fixed tearing.

In case with mpv though, when I disable window decorations, the windows below mpv remain visible even in fullscreen:

Seeing exactly the same in awesomeWM.
But starting it with --no-argb helped to solve it (seemingly), so I think starting herbstluftwm with --no-transparency argument might also help.

I'll also say that fullscreen mpv was not the only time I noticed such bad tearing, it was what made me sure of it.
