Hi, could you please give me some details about your setup?

  • Which Windows Version are you using? Is it at least Windows 10 version >= 1709?
  • Are you asing Windows Defender Antivirus as the sole antivirus protection app and is it enabled (incl. realtime protection)?

Hi @cherifVN, yes, at least for the "Windows Defender Attack Surface Reduction" (ASR) hardening setting to work you need to disable AVG and enable Windows Defender. The other option is to disable the ASR hardenings in the Hardentools expert settings dialog.

_Windows Defender Attack Surface Reduction (ASR) enables various remediations using ASR rules starting with Windows 10 / 1709. To be effective this needs the following prerequisites:

Windows 10 version >= 1709,
You are using Windows Defender Antivirus as the sole antivirus protection app,
Real-time protection is enabled in Windows Defender.
Cloud protection is enabled in Windows Defender (only needed for some of the ASR rules)_
