So I started looking though all of the HC repos, and I stumbled upon the guides folder. There is a LOT of content there, content I'm not sure is anywhere else other than a folder in Github. There are guides for first meetings, attracting and keeping members, teaching kids code, etc etc. And maybe new leaders are told about it during the on boarding meeting I didn't do, but it seems a waste to just leave it sitting there. So I started looking for a spot in the website to put it and I think I found one.

The toolbox. More specifically, the school toolbox, https://github.com/hackclub/school-toolbox which already has similar content to the guides. From what I've seen, it shouldn't be too hard to reference the files in this repo and display them in school-toolbox, which, with the addition of this new content, should be renamed to the clubs-toolbox or the like.

From what I see, there are a few steps:

  • Add guides into the school-toolbox repo
  • Add website cards to make the .md files readable
  • Rename school-toolbox to a more relevant name
  • Add some form of organization to help leaders find guides quicker (section headers will probably not work for the amount of cards that will be on the page)
