Therefore Haven has no way to send an alarm. Am I right?

Could we use SMS if we root our device, install an alternate OS? They must be a way, I cannot accept that Google decides what I can do on MY device!

Could we use Telegram or any other messenger?

Meanwhile it would be fair to update the documentation and say that Haven can only log events.

Olivier (so desapointed, since Haven is what I need)

Looking into this. Looks easier than Signal.

Understand your pain.

Any update on this, Is the app currently unable to send notifications?

Notifications don’t work. Signal protocol hasn’t been updated, nor has the app been approved to send SMS. Multiple vulnerabilities exist in the packages as it becomes more outdated.

Guidance requested @n8fr8, where are we going from here? Do we remove it from Play Store? Fdroid? Better at this juncture to sunset the product than have anyone rely on it.

Any chance for notifications sent over something more universal, such as PGP encrypted email? Or XMPP?

Signal

Though I think simpler (above) is better, if we're going the double-ratchet app route, I'd request Wire instead of Signal. Wire is more privacy-friendly since you can register for an account without a SIM card. In many countries, getting an anonymous phone number can be exceedingly difficult.

It would definitely be good to use a service that does not depend on a telephone number. I'd recommend Matrix, or Simplex, both of which have an API and can be run on self-hosted servers
