What happened?

I changed the range of my query and grafana froze.

What did you expect to happen?

Grafana to not freeze.

Did this work before?

Not sure

How do we reproduce it?

  1. Open grafana explore
  2. Change the timerange to last 5 minutes
  3. Watch grafana freeze

It freezes only a little in the provided link but when we do the same using our instance with Victoria Metrics (using prometheus plugin) it freezes for a few minutes and the whole tab crashes and consumes 3GB of memory.
The query that we use for Victoria Metrics is time() == start() which is not valid in prometheus.

Is the bug inside a dashboard panel?

Not only dashboard and I've provided explore link with reproduction.
