TimeSeriesPanel: Add support for transform negative

In current Graph panel, I'm able to take a series, put it in a stack and flip it

It is not possible in new Timeseries panel now

Why is this needed:

Let's say we have two timeseries representing in and out directions and want to show them in one graph. Therefore, it makes sense to use both sides of axis Y, thus flipping one direction to the other side.

not yet, we've only finished fillBelowTo so far: #30268

stacking support will be built on top of this. we're still gonna need to figure out how the two will interact, i'm thinking they'll have to be mutually exclusive.

EDIT: sorry, yes, uPlot core just has the fillBelowTo support. stacking is actually implemented externally in the demo: https://leeoniya.github.io/uPlot/demos/stacked-series.html

if you have an in series, and an out series, then you just need to flip the out series, but this isn't stacking related, right? unless you have additional in and additional out series that need to be split into negative and positive stacks.

even if we had a generic transform that can multiply a series' values by -1, the way stacking works now for mixed positive/negative series is a bit puzzling (cc @dprokop) :

Looks like this is often used for complementary sources like network and disk I/O. Subscribing to this request as I've faced this issue just now after upgrading to 8.0. Good thing we still have Graph(old) for now.

On a side note, I used to be doing an "inverted" graph for two hosts where regular graph for the first host goes from the bottom edge aand the other one has zero on the top edge with negative display from the top. Maybe that's an overkill but saves space and still looks fine.

Negative-Y is a pure visualization feature, just like setting a color or line width. It is not something that should be done in data. We could mimic that behavior messing with the data but it would also mess with statistics. I'll stick with the old graph until this feature is implemented. It would also be interesting to have an option to use absolute number in y-axis scale, like this:

And different tittle for the upper y-axis and the down y-axis. Again all these are pure "visualization", not data.

As a temp. fix whilst waiting for the implementation I came up with the following solution:

• Transform the series to "*-1" to get a negative result;
• Override the original series and set 'hide in area' to 'Viz';
• Override the transformed series and set 'hide in area' to 'Tooltip' and 'Legend';
• Make sure both have the same styling

This way your legend and tooltips will show the positive values whilst the viz will show the negative values
