We're in the process of moving Grafana feature requests to GitHub Discussions. This issue is being moved to Discussions or has been moved from our issues list, depending on where you're seeing this message. We hope to use the discussion thread to continue building use cases, and additional evidence based on engagement/voting, in order to help us prioritize this feature request later on down the road. As with all things Grafana, we value your input and participation in this project and appreciate your patience during this transitional period. Looking forward to the discussion! |

I'm reopening this discussion, is there a way to access a member's teams using a global variable? Thanks! |

Hello, as you may have heard, we are transitioning away from using discussions to discuss feature requests. We are migrating this discussion to an issue and closing the discussion. The issue is #82940. Feel free to continue the discussion around this there. Thank you! |

What would you like to be added:
Add a global variable (
$__teams
) that contains a list of the teams that the current user is a member of.Why is this needed:
This would be similar to the
$__org
global variable: https://grafana.com/docs/grafana/latest/variables/variable-types/global-variables/#__org. It would allow the Grafana admins to customize a dashboard to return different results (or use different datasources) based on team membership. In the customer's words:
An alternative fix for this same problem is described in this issue, which asks for per-team variables: #21071
