Idea

gellius-db aims to be website with an underlying database that enables scholars to query Aulus Gellius' Noctes Atticae considering keywords, quotes, persons mentioned, ...

Description

Gellius' Noctes Atticae belong to the genre of florilegia and its single units don't have a specific order within the work. There are titles (i.e. a summary of the content in one sentence) provided for each unit, but as it is often the case in literary works there is more to a unit than its title claims.

gellius-db should to consist of a triple store and a website; I already have finished a first draft for the data model and an ontology in Turtle. Scholars should be able to query this data on a website with predefined queries, but I also think about enabling the users to write their own. Furthermore, users should be encouraged to enhance the data on their own, e.g. adding more keywords.

What kinds of support do we need?

Since this project is still just an idea, I'd like to discuss whether Wikidata is suitable for it at all. This is mainly a project I develop without an institutional context, so I don't have any resources for providing and maintaining a web server with a database on my own.

Regarding interoperability of your data model with Wikidata, take a look at ShEx, as per https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:WikiProject_ShEx .
