The 3rd edition with the author's update on Oct 14 2015 is now available on his website.

The last update is July 28th 2016. I'm just interested to know if anybody is planning to update this sphinx port to the third edition or not

Part of the reason why I made this edition was because the PDF formatting was so poor, but I've found the new upstream edition to be pretty reasonable. If someone really wants to pull in the new content I will accept any pull requests, but I don't have the time to do it myself.

FYI we currently working on this on brach v3, pull changes from there if you'd like to contribute!
