Pitch

Give boosters the option of adding a content warning before boosting a post, if the post to be boosted doesn't already have one.

Motivation

Users who may wish to boost a post that should have a content warning but don't may choose not to boost that post if they can't add one. For example, lengthy posts who's point is valid, or posts that the booster may agree with but the original poster did not include a warning and should have. This issue is opoen in mastodon#13291 but has not been touched since 2022. It has not been turned down, but has not been implemented.

With the increase in content related to US politics and the 2024 election, the inability to add content warnings on posts that lack them becomes more and more of a pain point for sharing content relating to organizing and advocacy while also respecting the wishes of those in my network who (understandably) prefer not to see anything relating to the subject at all.
