I'm on my Galaxy A13 and we've seen some weird keyboard behavior on that device so it's possible this isn't an issue everyone has.

On this device, when I go from one screen with a text field to another, the keyboard collapses and comes back. It slows me down and is visually confusing. I think we should consider trying to keep the keyboard displayed if the next field that needs focus requires the keyboard as well.

@dbemke @WKobus could one of you please see whether this happens on all devices?

On Redmi 9t (android 10) and Pixel 7a (android 14) the keyboard collapses and comes back after swiping to the next test question.

Is it something you'd noticed @dbemke? Does it bother you or not really?

Truth be told, I'm not sure whether it's practical or expected to have the keyboard stay up. I also notice it's only really an issue if I know the form well and want to go quickly. I imagine it wouldn't come up when asking questions to a participant, it would only be an issue when doing things like quickly answering questions about the current day, the data collector, etc. I'm fine to leave it as-is but wanted to at least document that we've thought about it.

I was thinking about the keyboard collapsing and I feel that my experience in filling forms might be a bit different from user experience and my opinion might be subjective. I don't usually focus on the things that I type (usually random letters). On the other hand, for users typing correct letters quickly might be the most important part.
