Writer to output 1-Bit TIFF

Hello,

I am working on a raster processor in the browser and am looking for a solution to output 1-Bit TIFF files.
As other issues mentioned, the GeoTIFF writer is currently working with UInt8 types.
Is there some plans to enable other types, especially UInt1?
Would you have some clues on how to implement it? (I could give a try, but this is really not my area of expertise...)
