I started this project but probably won't be able to finish it before I graduate.

This paper http://geology.gsapubs.org/content/35/9/855.short shows geologic evidence for an anti-correlation between two groups of faults in southern California where earthquake activity switches between the two fault groups every 1000-2000 years.

Project: Run a simulation of the UCERF3 California fault model, and use PyVQ to compute the correlation coefficient as a function of time between the two fault groups. Then compare this to the correlation you find when simulating only those two groups of faults without the other California faults (the control group). Ideally we would find a correlation or anti-correlation with all the California faults included, and no correlation when the two fault groups are simulated independently.

This project is dependent on the completion of the Issue that requests a correlation function for PyVQ.
