Split isothermal and thermal methods

At the moment, we have hardwired the isothermal method into the thermal equations of state. It would be good to separate methods, so that the user can interchange isothermal and thermal parts. This flexibility is standard in other codes. We can always add a warning if we want a user to use a specific isothermal and thermal combination.
