GIS StackExchange is good for general GIS and Earth Engine questions, but it is probably too much for a geemap user. I personally don't check GIS.StackExchange every day to answer geemap related questions. geemap is not something that the entire GEE community knows, not to mention to the entire GIS community. If you have a geemap question, you are more likely to get an answer here rather than GIS StackExchange. Some Q&A can also be converted to issues if needed to improve the package. This Q&A Discussion forum is a good place for users to ask geemap related questions without opening an issue. Of course, general GEE questions are better suited for GIS StackExchange or the GEE Developer Forum. |

I think that the best reason is that you don't check it (and your amazing reactivity on github is clearly a plus for users). I still think that avoiding silos is an excellent thing (ArcGIS users don't use geopandas and still both technologies are GIS related) so if you don't mind I will cross-post my questions when they are not bug related and maybe at some point a small community of geemap users will emmerge on GIS.StackExchange ;-) |

Is there a reason why the Question & Answer are send directly to Github conversation instead of GIS.stackexchange ?
You're not the first package/lib in the GIS galaxy to decided to go away from the plateform by creating a custom tailored Q&A service (I'm thinking in particular to GEE and rasterIO).
Advantage of using GIS.stackexchange :
I am myself in this questioning for another project and I would like to have your opinion.
Note: I do not work for SO or receive any money or benefit from them. I simply find that much of what I know how to do on a computer would not have been possible without these sites and their diversity.
