Is there a plan to add a floating window feature to Geany? Most IDEs have it.

Define "floating window". (Since most devs are concentrated on this project they may not know what terms from other projects mean).

Oh, I should read the release notes when it upgrades, but I'm too rushed to do stuff.

Well as one of the comments on vscode says it "requires a bit of rearchitecting the internals" and that applies to Geany too (but different internals, can't borrow from vscode). The things that need to be changed would also allow split screen to work properly, specifically everything in Geany understanding that there can be multiple visible documents and to check the current document that has focus before they perform any action, and to handle it changing between callbacks.

Given it took MS paid professionals five years from the comment linked above its likely to take Geany .... ???? [crickets chirping]

It would probably be in the form of multiple top level windows like xcode I expect, not just floating editor pains, but depends on who does it and if things like tagmangler can handle it.
