Has the addition of DNA to dwc:basisOfRecord be raised as an issue with the Darwin Core Maintenance Group?
If not it should be done immediately. There is little point talking about something that could be changed quickly and without fuss.

unlikely BoR will be fixed for v1, but some day it should be.

GBIF should have a way to organize/filter/scope datasets based upon the type of data. ALthough some of us wish for a basisOfRecord term like DNA sequence, this can not enter text if not existing in a vocabulary. Issue is hence out of scope for this group.

A very lively discussion on this topic is in ALA and @qgroom and myself, are on the newly forming TDWG Material Sample task group where we can raise this issue.

@quentin, if you agree that the TDWG TG is the best place to tackle this, can you please close this issue? I'm not sure what more can be achieved in the document.

Yes, indeed a task group will likely be created on basisOfRecord and this issue can be closed in favor of that.
