Upgrade an old project to Foundation 7. And about jQuery

I have no words to express my happiness with the good news that we have a blessed guy to keep this project maintained. Thank you so much.

Well, we can't ignore the fact that when Foundation 6 was "abandoned" by their original team, other projects like... well, I don't know if I can mention it, but the fact is that other projects just kept evolving. If we thing about it, some of them don't even use jQuery anymore, I won't explain the reasons here because maybe it will can generate another discussion and it's not the case.

All of that said, I want to know what we can expect of Foundation 7 and if we'll have some way to upgrade our old project to this new, awesome, beautiful and amazing project. And last, but not less important, can you talk about what you'll do with jQuery?

What you guys think about that?

Foundation 7 will no longer use jQuery.

So I know jQuery is super uncool these days, but would someone mind explaining why to me? :)

I mean, I can do things in vanilla JS just fine, but I still really like the jQuery syntax.

jQuery was created to overcome inconsistencies between browsers. That is not really an issue any longer. Therefore, there is no need to have the extra payload on the page if we don't need it.

Yeah, I've heard that before, but it's really hard for me to stress about including a 75K library, when I fight with designers over 1MB images. :)

That does not mean that you need to stop using it for your own needs. But the framework should no longer require it.
