What is the purpose of ffmpeg-playout and what are the diffs with vanilla ffmpeg ?

I am on Arch linux. I'm having an hard time compiling and installing ffmpeg-ffplayout on my machines (plural) due to compiling errors. Since I read in the PKGBUILD that ffmpeg-ffplayout is in fact a required dependencies for ffplayout it is now my curiosity to know the features that ffmpeg-ffplayout brings on the table.

I tried with the docker solution but it failed to run due to something with systemd (I opened an issue about the docker problem, btw)

The ffplayout depends on an ffmpeg binary that has been compiled with the "--enable-libzmq" build flag, but the version of ffmpeg provided by Arch Linux and Manjaro Linux from their standard repositories does not have this flag enabled. This is the essential difference between the vanilla ffmpeg (Arch Linux) and ffmpeg-ffplayout. Additionally, I enabled the "--enable-parser=h264" and "--enable-parser=aac" flags because in my tests, they provided some stability when using the live ingest mode of ffplayout.
