simple question , how to DELETE/UNINSTALL/REMOVE or Disable FAIL2BAN in centos?

how did you install it?

If it was a package install perhaps "yum remove fail2ban" will remove it.

If was a manual install run:
fail2ban-client stop

And then remove the parts and I'm guessing as to location here:

rm -rf /etc/fail2ban /etc/init.d/fail2ban /var/run/fail2ban /usr/share/doc/fail2ban /usr/local/bin/fail2ban* /usr/lib*/python*/site-packages/fail2ban /usr/local/lib*/python*/site-packages/fail2ban

look throughly the difference between the servers that are functional and the one which is not , get rid of the differences and re-install. problem resolved .
or can hire someone from freelancer.com good luck

Hello,

I'm having a really annoying problem.

I did install fail2ban in severals servers, all working fine, but one. Didn't find the reason why it was not blocking the failed logins. Then, after trying many different options (copying the config from another server) I decided to uninstall it, did a "yum remove fail2ban"...but I realized the config file and folder were still there. Did a manually remove of /etc/fail2ban. Then I reinstalled using "yum install fail2ban". I do "yes", it installs successfully, but then, no folders where added and since then I can't install it.

Any ideas?

I'm using CentOS Linux release 7.0.1406

fail2ban 0.9-9.el7

hi there, i am no linux expert but common sense says you were not able to properly delete/uninstall linux that's why you were not able to reinstall it at first attempt and its still the same thing , you need to find way to fully delete the previous installation and check the settings too and then try reinstall. If nothing works i suggest you post a free project on freelancer.com and pay about 15-30$ and get it done with further time waste for you if you can afford it then it maybe quicker for you if its urgent then its best for you. Try other forums too for the solution maybe someone with more competency can work out the solution for you. On freelancer send a file to the bidders of the project and in file also send your skype contact and chat to the person that you like to work for yourself and keep contacts and for future reference just use the same bidder to get your work done quickly if you find him to be reliable. In EPEL7 (and Fedora 21+), fail2ban is composed of several sub-packages, so:

yum remove fail2ban*
