Steps to reproduce

  1. Join conf
  2. Half the squares are grey
  3. You can't tell whether they're grey because the sender has turned off their camera, or because of a bug.

Outcome

What did you expect?

Show a video mute icon if someone is not sending video.

What happened instead?

No video mute icon; much grey.

Operating system

No response

Will you send logs?

It should behave as following: grey tile - issue, tile without video and avatar instead - muted camera
But this is not well communicated.
Added needs design for the specifics of how we could make this more obvious.

I like the idea of a muted camera icon (But I dont remember seeing it in any other video conf. app.)
I can also see that replacing the grey tile with: connecting.../waiting_for_encryption_keys could also do the trick.
