subset of variables in correlation matrix

Hello, I have a dataset of Hansen disease patient having clinical diagnosis and histopathological diagnosis in two variables. clinical and histopathological diagnosis each have 7 levels. what i was trying to do to check the correlation between clinical and histopathological diagnosis. while using correlation function i am also getting between two different subset of single group.
i tried using data and data2 function with different column in both data while also used select function..

can you suggest, how i can go around using this function to get my results??
