Parameterize?

In thinking about the modifications we've made, there are largely speaking three things that we've changed --

• references to dxw to OKF ("shortname")
• references to Dextrous Web ... to Open Knowledge Foundation ("compname")
• inserting our company number ("compno")

I'm wondering if there's a way ./configure could read these from a config file or environment variables -- I don't know if this would be useful for others @mikejamesthompson perhaps?

Some document processors (eg pandoc) allow the setting of variables, but I had a little look through the kramdown documentation and couldn't find anything obvious.
