Preferences layer/cross session support

User customization and or other optional features should be saved and retrieved cross session by default.

Eventually I would like the app to come back exactly the way they left it the night before. Even after closing the app, the browser, and turning off their computer.

This could be done in a "preferences layer" that can hold not only user preferences but be a way to check system and security settings.

Those that saw the value of doing a search right-off-the-bat for them also wanted to be able to SAVE their searches. They also wanted to be be alerted when something new came in and matched their saved searches.

We were able to get their names for the intro/tour via their browser security certificate and say good morning/afternoon/evening based on the time of day, and a few other things. Pretty neat.
