Some of these don't need to be done by the end of the month.

I am putting these down so I can think through them and not forget about them.

This DOES need to be done by the end of the month.

  • We need to have an option to NOT automatically do a search and show search results upon entering the app.

In my experience, it is 50/50 on customers/clients who like the convenience of proactively doing a search for them and displaying the results before they even touch anything.

In fact, for those who did like it, we (my team and I) were able to make a few solid assumption about what users were coming to the app to do based on where they were coming from in the company (via info gained from their browser authentication certificates), the time of day, their position in the company (also gained their browser certs), etc. and check or uncheck a few more filters for them. Initially some were a little weirded out but eventually greatly appreciated the convenience. Almost as if the app was thinking for itself. This was a while ago so they called it their "first smart app". :)

Most though didn't notice or care. Most only notice if something goes wrong or doesn't work the way they expect it to work and or otherwise interrupts their work flow and slows them down. Nevertheless, it was an option to enable for them if they wanted it. Like toggling dark and light modes... which touches on the setting panel. More on that later.

So I need to build an intro section to show alternatively, in case users don't want to see search results upon first accessing the app.
