Delaford in 2022

Delaford (version 4) was started in 2017 utilizing Vue 2.5 and webpack. A lot has changed in the landscape since then and I've quietly started working on a brand-new, from-scratch Delaford written in TypeScript upgrading a bunch of features along the way.

2022 will see big changes to Delaford.

Game

1. Rewrite using same, but updated technology with some changes
   1.2 TypeScript (replacing JavaScript)
   1.2 Vue 3 (replacing Vue 2.5 and using the Composition API)
   1.3 Vite (will replace webpack)
2. Server is built using esbuild whereas the client is built with Vite using rollup under the hood
3. Game canvas is as big as a the browser
4. Modify UI game components like traditional MMORPGs (with inventory on far-right, chat on bottom-left, etc.)
5. New repository using npm workspaces to handle multiple package.json to separate the client and server
6. We use pnpm instead of npm for a faster install experience
7. Set where item respawns, NPCs and monsters will spawn on the Tiled map

and so much more.

1. Inertia.js/Vue 3 for frontend
2. Laravel 9 for backend
3. Transition from MySQL to PostgreSQL for database

But, for right now, the beta will involve local storage loading/saving your character data.

• Muskite (Low-tier armor after Steel)
• Jatite (Mid-tier armor after Muskite)

Player versus Environment (a.k.a. Combat system)

Players will soon realize their Attack/Defense skills to be able to combat against monsters in Delaford. And perhaps, if they're lucky, loot will be awaiting them if they are victorious.

New Armor and Weapons

New armor to be introduced along with the new PvE system.

New Skills

With Smithing having been introduced, we will introduce more metals and armor to be allowed. In part, we will introduce:

• Woodcutting
• Cooking
• Fishing

With Attack, Defense, Mining, Smithing, Woodcutting, Cooking and Fishing -- I think that rounds out for a nice skillset for an adventurer, no?
