Average Directional Index (ADX)

The Average Directional Index (ADX) is a technical analysis indicator used to quantify the strength of a trend. It is a smoothed moving average of the Directional Movement Index (DMI), which is a measure of the strength of a trend. The ADX is calculated using the following formula:

ADX = (DMI + DMI(n)) / 2
