When a user tries to create a DOI that already exists, the subsequent error message indicates what the problem is.

Current Behaviour

The current error message "an error occurred and the DOI could not be saved" does not provide any indication as to what the issue is.

On the one hand, it would be helpful to add a comment about the already existing DOI name. On the other hand, it would also be great, if the DOI name field could be highlighted in red to indicate there is an error in that field, which prevents the DOI to be saved. The red highlighting would be coherent to the existing practice in other fields.
