When first trying to run "gatsby develop" I received this error:

It is also documented here: aws-amplify/learn#41

Installing packages with Yarn resolved this issue.

swapping from npm to yarn also fixed it for me, thank you for that suggestion

node version: 12.14.0
npm version: 6.13.4
yarn version: 1.21.1

This seems to have worked, thanks! I switched a few months ago from yarn to npm because of some obscure error with aws-amplify. Back again.
