What happened?

conda-build produces repodata.json.bz2 for the local channel e.g. ~/miniconda3/conda-bld/noarch

This is a small waste of time and space, and conda hasn't checked .json.bz2 for years. Instead, conda-build could pass a flag to produce only the minimum repodata.json.
