Currently:
#createhangout Advent of Code Day 1, starting now
will schedule a hangout.

Parameters we do not support (yet), in order of priority:
1/ let users pass in external link in case folks want to use Zoom, LiveStream, etc.
2/ let users pass in description
3/ let users pass in hangout type (silent, collab, teaching)

The priority of this issue depends on the popularity of the createHangout command.

Aside: I'm sensing a growing trend to expose codebuddies.org functionality through Slack. If this is something we want to support more generally, we may want to consider providing some common APIs that can be used by both the main site and Slack.
