I tried running gatsby locally on my M1 machine and hit some issues:

  1. Had to install vips (brew install vips) so sharp would install on npm install
  2. Even then, it looks like node-sass isn't supported on arm machines, we may need to move to sass

Should we use Codespaces here? I had it working at one point.
