We currently use an ACME 2 client and based on Laravel Jobs we schedule for new Let's Encrypt SSL Certificates for added domains and have them renewed using Laravel Jobs.
Laravel Let's Encrypt Laravel Package to install Let's Encrypt SSL Certificates for customers using A NAMES. Based upon domain name used in Laravel commands and common A Name a certificate is generated and Nginx configuration file made.
If we start to use Kubernetes and Cert Manager we also want to populate / automate / enqueue new domains when they are added for them to get Let's Encrypt SSL certificates. So the process is:
new project added
domain added
nginx config added
queues request for new LE SSL certificate
verification is done
ssl certificate is added
job scheduled to renew before expiration
In Kubernetes I can add a certificate kind:Job to create a new certificate for a job and perhaps we can put something together with Bash scripts to create new ones and run them.. But it all sounds outside of the Kubernetes / Cert Manager and Laravel PHP realm..
I am also looking into a Kubernete PHP Client that we may be able to use as a bridge, but still, working with regular Laravel Jobs/Commands and Cert Manager directly an API of sorts would be better still.
How does Cert Manager deal with a feed of constantly newly added domains that need an ssl certificate and need renewals? Is there a way to automate?
