In the docs it states:

Note

Chords don’t properly work with Redis before version 2.2; you’ll need to upgrade to at least redis-server 2.2 to use them.

But then, any version above redis 2.1.6 (I've tried several) causes various errors. For example for #5175 the suggestion is to specify pip install redis==2.10.6 in the requirements file. Which, again, brings us back to Chords not working properly.

So, is there a way to make chords work with celery 4.2 when the result backend is redis? It seems like there isn't.
