It would be great if we didn't have to roll our own exporters. MNE switched to edfio recently, so we can probably just use their implementation. I'm not sure about the other formats though (EEGLAB and BrainVision).

Currently, MNE does not export STIM channels to EDF, so MNELAB will stick with its own implementation for now. See mne-tools/mne-python#12332.
