SMTP configuration for Grafana?

I was wondering if it would make sense to take the custom SMTP configuration provided for alert manager and add it as grafana config in /etc/grafana/grafana.ini as well?

With grafana 4.6.3 there seems to be no alert manager plug-in installed.

Alert plugin works only in 5.2.X. I have a custom configuration where I'm using it and I will add the code to this repo soon.

Planning to make Grafana more independent in the future. I am aware that the persistence doesn't work well right now, the Grafana config reloader is deprecated and there are some other issues, like importing large dashboards.
