We talked about this outside the Code and Coffee meetup for a while, but I came up with many more questions afterwards. I'm half conscious at this point but wanted to write out my notes (this is Alex0

There are a lot of interesting challenges in deciding who can and cannot have access, for example:

  • what is the skill level of the meetup, or how niche should they be.
  • are corporate-run meetups allowed? when is a meetup considered a corporate-run meetup?
  • or is it a meetup-style local chapter with ties to a larger non-profit (some examples, HackerNest or Hackng Health)
  • do you need to actually code?
  • for example, are UX-focused meetups allowed to join and access resources? what about dev managers, agile, testers....technical sales. remote workers. mental health in tech. product management. developer socials, etc. Is there a line and if so, where is that line?
  • reciprocity and giving back - how active does one have to be in giving back to the greater community, and all the challenges with this (mostly tied to new meetups)
  • can the member meetup charge for tickets? how much? where does the money go?
  • how much of the gg code of conduct will the member meetups need to implement? what if a member meetup violates the COC? where do you draw the line between an individual vs. a group being violation?
