i use Cario Shell as my main DE in Windows 10 for a year or maybe more and i have several suggestions for better experience

taskbar:

  • a "smart hide" option, when the taskbar is visible only if theres no windows that cover the bottom of the screen (like in macOS). if theres something in the way of taskbar - it stays hidden untill you move a cursor to the bottom of the screen to reveal it (like with regular auto-hide option);
  • an option for disabling an animation of taskbar showing up and down, showing and hiding the taskbar with no delay;

menubar:

  • an option for opening Windows 10 modern ui calendar pop-up instead of internal Cairo Shell pop-up;
  • maybe add visual editor/creator (or text one) for custom menu options like copy-paste ect. and make an opion to make your own toolbars depending on the focused app (too theoretical and uclear but interesting) (?) (in the future you can make a webstore to look for specific app toolbars, that other users made );

i also experiences two major bugs, but it goes away with a restart:

  • when i disconnect my external display sometimes there is a gap between the menubar and maximized window that was on the other display
  • sometimes taskbar's apps previews bugs out. when i try to hover above app preview it just disapears and does not let me click on a preview to open apps window.

i use Version 0.4.245.61259 - Pre-release, not set as shell
desktop icons are disabled

I'd be happy if there was an option to merge the top and bottom bar, like windows does so you can maintain the real estate on the desktop. Cairo is by far the better shell and would be more familiar with that little change

The app grabber curently looks for default software including iexplore, that perhaps could be changed to look for any browser given iexplore is discontinued
