What is yaai?

Yet Another Asterisk Integration (yaai) is a full featured Asterisk PBX to SugarCRM connector which provides Telephony Integration features such as Click to Dial, Inbound Call Notification, Automatic Call Logging, and Transfer Support. The aim of the project is to make things like call logging as easy as sending a chat message.

Features

  1. Only upgrade safe asterisk integration working on recent versions of sugarcrm (6.0+ CE/PRO+)
  2. Google Chat inspired "minimal" UI. A small collapsable call popup which supports multiple calls and stays out of your way!
  3. Quick and easy way to leave call notes -- It's just like sending a chat msg.
  4. No software to install for the end-users. All features are available right inside the browser.
  5. Call windows are synchronized across browser windows / tabs --> Closing a call window in one window automatically closes it in the others.
  6. Call windows stick around for 1 hour after call so you can put notes in after the call is over. They'll hide automatically after 1 hour.
  7. Calls are automatically logged and attached to appropriate contacts (even if user isn't logged into sugar.)
  8. For Caller ID integration (see name of contact from SugarCRM database on phone) use Liz Plugin
  9. If phone number doesn't match one of your contacts, the number is looked up in CallerID database thanks to OpenCNAM.
  10. Open source!
  11. Free! Compared at $100/user year -- If you're a developer, please help project in return see our Project TODO List. There are a number of things (many pretty quick depending on your past experiences.) Donations are also appreciated Donate Button
  12. Transfer support coming in next release (source code on this site already includes it!)

Contributors / Dev. History

Here's my understanding:

Kinamu/Abcona adapted a SugarCRM integration that Starface made for it's proprietary PBX system. They adapted their integration to make it work with an Asterisk PBX circa 2009 / SugarCRM v5.0.

Sebastian Tieland around May 2011 helped the project by adapting it to work on Sugar 6.1 and updated it to work with Asterisk Manager Interface (AMI) 1.1.

Blake Robertson began working with Sebastian and adapted it to use the new gchat inspired user interface, made it support multiple calls at once, multiple browser tabs, added transfer support etc. Then, subsequently put the project up on github so others can collaborate on the project.
