betterlockscreen locks suspend

im using i3 and i added the command exec --no-startup-id xss-lock --transfer-sleep-lock -- betterlockscreen -l into my config
but whenever i suspend it locks the screen without suspending it and then when i unlock it it suspends my machine
why is it doing this and can i change it?

You can archive lock and suspend with simple exec betterlockscreen -l -s.

You can use https://github.com/betterlockscreen/betterlockscreen/blob/next/system/betterlockscreen%40.service and this information (https://github.com/betterlockscreen/betterlockscreen#systemd) for automatic locking your system on sleep or suspend. Then you could also just run systemctl suspend and the system should be locked on resume if everything is configured correct.
