How do I use the scrub command?

I would like to use the beet scrub command (link to docs) to "removes tags from files". I'm using the -W option because I would like "to just remove tags but not restore any information":

$ mid3v2 track.mp3
IDv2 tag info for track.mp3
TIT2=songTitle
$ beet scrub -W track.mp3
$ mid3v2 track.mp3
IDv2 tag info for track.mp3
TIT2=songTitle

The tag is still there. Which bit of this am I misunderstanding?
