a98b104 in the new-aplooseversion branch is an updated implementation of APLooseVersion based on the updated implementation of MunkiLooseVersion that eliminates the dependency on distutils.version, which is deprecated in Python 3.10.
I haven't done much testing of the new autopkg implemtatation which is why this is not a Pull Request yet. Looking for suggestions on how to test.
