Branches/Tickets not reflected on Jira as deployed if they were deleted after merging

Not sure if this is an issue, feature request or a process issue, but my team has a experienced that using tickets IDs for branch naming doesn't quite work to synch deployments.

If we have a branch, with a ticket ID on it's name, but not in any commit msg, and the branch is deleted right after merging, and then deployed after more team members merge their changes. github-for-jira is unable to identify if the ticket has been deployed. It only works when we use tickets IDs on commit msgs.

We also have our deployment workflows mapped with environments and expect to see the tickets automatically moved when a deployed is complete.

Any ideas? suggestions? So far I think only forcing the team to include IDs on the commits msgs would fix it but doesn't feel like it should be the case.
