Original feedback from Keenan:

If a file is missing and a file has a hash mismatch, the exit status (12) and stdout matches the exit status and stdout of only a file being missing. If either the exit status or stdout are taken by themselves, that might cause the hash mismatch to be missed. Perhaps there should be a unique exit status and stdout per combination of possible outcomes?
