This usually fixes itself after a few seconds or when scrolling up and down, do the gaps just stay?

Does not fix after a few seconds, and scrolling up or down shows them for a split second and then it disappears. In rare cases, they are visible at a very specific scroll level, but scrolling up or down (or going out of visible screen) causes the blank gaps to stay.

I only have this when turning off Shorts 🤔

Just experiencing this for the first time now too. Re-enabling ads fixed it instantly, Shorts has no effect. :(

Have been experiencing this issue for at least the past month.

I found a work around for this until it's fixed. For now spoofing to version 18.16.2 and under works like a charm.

I'm guessing there's a new homepage layout that causes the current adblocking code to break it. If someone with the issue can upload their A/B flags, or a screenshot of the page with ad-blocking disabled, then that might be helpful

I've uploaded a screen recording of my homepage here: https://i.imgur.com/dnUbKZO.mp4

No idea what A/B flags are though, how do I upload them?

A/B flags are in Youtube Settings -> A/B -> Enable. Then you can go to Youtube Settings -> A/B -> Copy current settings to clipboard. Then you can paste them in a gist or on pastebin

Had this annoying issue for a while now. Here's the fix: I disabled ad blocking in uYou Settings under Other Settings > Remove Youtube Ads. You'll see ads in your feed, but no more black boxes. My understanding is the uYou ad blocker needs an update. iSponsorBlock will still block ads in videos. Hopefully, an update will arrive soon. Someone should report the issue on the uYou GitHub page.

I’m using version 19.19.5 and uYou 3.0.3-F1
I’m wondering if this is still happening to others and what settings you currently have enabled

Hey I recently added a new option called AdBlock Workaround (Lite)
what the option does comparison:
Pros:

  • Blocks Video Ads when watching a Video
  • Blocks Shorts Ads when scrolling to another Video

Cons:

  • Force-Disables uYou’s Remove Youtube Ads Option to remove unwanted conflicts (simple reason: would bring back Empty Parts in Home Tab)
  • Ads will show up in the Home Tab (but fixes the Empty Parts)

The workaround worked for me when only (Lite) is enabled. If both Adblock Workaround (Lite) and Adblock Workaround, the option right below Lite, are enabled, then the same blank homepage issue occurs. Yeah you do get banner ads but I don't really mind those as they don't waste your time. Thanks for the work in implementing this new fix!

Btw is there no way to support you? I don't see a donation link for you in the support the devs section.
