Copying words like *ff* may be incorrect

Copying words like different, efficient could be incorrect, and I only encoutered such a problem in one specific document. Here is one page from it:

Using sioyek to copy the paragraph starting from the second line will result as follows:

A difefrent algorithm ... The main difefrence ... efcfiiently executed ...
