Georgia (the country) posts rectangular route shields that are color-coded by road type with numbers that are prefixed by importance:

  • Roads of international importance have the prefix “ს”. Motorways are white on green, while other roads are white on blue.
  • Roads of domestic importance are white on blue and have the prefix “შ”.

შ29, ს1

Unfortunately, OSM doesn’t seem to be distinguishing between any of these route networks in route relations. The only network=ge:* tag is network=ge:national; of the four relations with that tag, two are ს routes and two are შ routes. The ს1 relation is incomplete and doesn’t yet include any motorway segments. The wiki doesn’t document any guidelines for tagging route relations, so someone will need to come up with a more specific tagging scheme and make sure the Georgian community is supportive of it.

We'd also need to add Noto Sans Georgian to osm-americana/web-fonts, of course.
