Using Markdown 3.0.1 and mdx_bleach 0.1.4. In extension.py#L61. I believe the correct attribute is safe_mode.

I am also getting this issue, using Markdown 3.0.1 and mdx_bleach 0.1.4. I updated Markdown to 3.2.1 but it made no difference.

Just use the bleach library directly. I doubt a new version of this extension will be uploaded to pypi anytime soon, and this library is tiny.
