My audio preservation class of 13 students (and one instructor) encountered the following problems in getting MDQC to operate:
Sophia—PC, Windows 10, MDQC generated this error message:
invalid reference file selected
The reference file used was no different than that used by other members of the class. We tried several different files as reference files.
Mike—PC, Windows 10, same error message as above--invalid reference file selected
In all of the Mac examples below, students confirmed that they had installed
ExifTool and MediaInfo.
Marina—Mac, OS X 10.6. Error message stated:
MD QC has encountered a fatal error, and will not terminate. The Python runtime could not be located. You may need to install a framework build of Python or edit the PyRuntimeLocations array in this application’s info.plist file.

Sarah-- box where results should show up is empty, Sierra 10.12.6. See two attached screen shots 2017-10-29
The result after clicking "Begin Test" is a blank white box popping up with the top of it reading "Metadata Quality Control" and the bottom containing an exit button. There is no error sign popping up and all of my files and folders are on my desktop.
Rick—Mac, same problem as Sarah abpve-- box where results should show up is empty
Emily--Mac with operating system 10.12.6. Appears to be the same problem as the two above.
The other students in the class had no trouble getting the program to operate correctly.

We are currently working on improvements for MDQC and we have included these issues. In the meantime, I wanted to let you know that MDQC only works for Mac with OS 10.9+, so unfortunately your student Marina will not be able to run it on her computer.

Hi @micasey<https://github.com/micasey>!
We are currently working on improvements for MDQC and we have included these issues. In the meantime, I wanted to let you know that MDQC only works for Mac with OS 10.9+, so unfortunately your student Marina will not be able to run it on her computer.
We'll keep you posted!
Thanks.
