What feature are you suggesting?

Detection and reading of Steam Deck trackpad input for emulating the Vita's touch based controls without use of the touchscreen or mouse input.

Why would this feature be useful?

The LCD Steam Deck's touchscreen is quite lacking in responsiveness compared to modern smartphone displays, it's cumbersome size also contributes to it being pretty awkward to use in games that expect the player to make use of the rear touchpad or touchscreen during gameplay.

Currently the only solution to this inconvenience is through Steam input by mapping the trackpads to seperate mouse regions. This not only forces your cursor to be visible for the duration of every touch interaction, but also lacks multitouch functionality.

Other emulators or software with a similar feature

Dolphin is able to read the Steam Deck trackpads' input coordinates and pressure sensors along with the virtual gamepad steam input creates.

Platform (if relevant)

Linux
